Pouring from an Empty Cup – Lynee's Story

February 02, 2021

A physician’s assistant in training, Lynee took a job as an emergency room scribe in mid-February to fulfill an academic requirement. What she got was a first-hand experience on the frontline of a global pandemic. From protection to compensation, Lynee’s story dives into the experiences of those “lowest on the totem pole.” She tells of feeling forgotten during such a pivotal moment, the very start of her healthcare career.

Pouring from an empty cup, being in the hospital yet isolated from the team, and unable to be with her family support structure, Lynee returned to the hospital. This time, she was seeking help for her deteriorating mental health.
